Drop-in supports
The International Centre (IC) offers various supports and services for all international students, including:
Drop-in immigration advising (in person)
Monday 鈥 Friday, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. (Atlantic Time)
The IC offers drop-in immigration advising on a first-come, first-served basis. Drop-in sessions are no longer than 30 minutes. If you need to book advising for longer than 30 minutes, . Drop-in sessions are also available on the Sexton Campus (Melda Murray Student Centre) on Wednesdays from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Drop-in academic advising (in person)
Thursdays from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. (Atlantic Time)
A Student Success Advisor from the will have a drop-in session at the IC every week. This advisor supports undergraduate students in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Faculty of Science, and first-year Engineering students.
Writing Centre sessions (in person and )
Wednesdays from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (Atlantic Time)
Our International Student Writing Advisor will be at the IC for virtual and in-person writing appointments. .
Ombudsperson (in person)
Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Atlantic Time)
The is available to all Dalhousie students for free, confidential, impartial, and independent support to help resolve any university-related concerns. Some examples include:
- Providing general resource information and making appropriate referrals
- Identifying and explaining relevant university processes/policies
- Working with students to explore and strategize options for problem-solving
- Listening and providing an objective perspective
Monday Night Meal
Monday Night Meal is a free food program offered to current Dal students by Multifaith Services and the International Centre. Through the fall semester, meals will be served every Monday between September 15 and December 8 (except for holidays when campus is closed). Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and food will be served while supplies last. Join us for a delicious meal and a sense of community on campus! What really is Canadian culture like? Is it true what people say about Canadians? What makes Canada unique? Learn more about 鈥淐anadiana鈥 in this session, including Canadian multiculturalism, social norms, and more.
Learn to Make Mochi (Daifuku Workshop)

Did you know that the popular dessert from Japan, mochi (or daifuku in Japanese) is really easy to make? Come learn to make a delicious dessert at the IC!

Are you wondering how many hours you can work on- and off-campus? Do you have questions about if/when you need a co-op work permit? Are you thinking about applying for a Post-Graduation Work Permit after you graduate? Twice a month, the IC hosts a games night. Upcoming dates are September 26, October 10, and October 24 from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. Drop by to enjoy snacks, friendly competition, and different games for you and your friends.
