Insight Central Europe
13.7.2002 - Ian Willoughby

Local people in a Polish village are accused of massacring Jews during World War Two, as Poland is having to come to terms with unsavoury aspects of its war-time past, and we also ask if strained relations between Austria and the Czech Republic extend as far as business...and beer. We look at the issue of refugees in Slovakia; few asylum seekers are accepted and most flee the country before their applications are even processed. Hungary's national tonic Palinka has just been given official European Union recognition. And among other interesting reports, we take a visit to the Karlovy Vary film festival.
