PURPOSE
The purpose of the Senate Nominating Committee is to oversee the nomination of Senate Officers and Senate Standing Committees members.听

COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP听
1. Elected Voting members
- 1 member from each Faculty, except the Faculty of Graduate studies, no fewer than 3 of whom shall be Elected Academic Unit Senators, as nominated by the Senate planning and Governance Committee for three-year staggered terms.听
2. Student Voting members
- 1 student appointed by the Dalhousie Student union.听
3. Chair
- The Chair shall be elected from among the Committee members for a one-year term at the commencement of each academic year.听

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senate Nominating Committee is responsible for the following:听
1. Nomination of Senate Officers
- Developing procedures for the nomination of Senate Officers and recommending to Senate the adoption of same;
- Making nominations for Senate Officers to Senate in accordance with Section 3.2 of the Senate Constitution; and
- Making recommendations for temporary replacement for Senate Officer vacancies and leaves in accordance with Section 3.2 of the Senate Consitution; and
- Making recommendations for re-appointment of Senate Officers to Senate in accordance with Section 3.2 of the Senate Constitution.听
2. Nomination of Senate Standing Committees
- Developing procedures for the nomination of Elected Voting members of the Senate Standing Committee members and recommending to the Senate the adoption of same;
- Making nominations for Elected Voting Members of Senate Standing Committeees to Senate in accordance with Section 5.1(d) of the Senate Constitution; and听
- Making temporary replacements where an Elected Voting Member of a Senate Standing COmmittee is absent for six months or less, in accordance with Section 5.1(f) of the Senate Constitution.听
3. Other tasks
- Taking whatever action is required to fulfill the mandate of this Comittee; and听
- Executing other tasks as directed by Senate.听
